【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtomeasuretheperformanceofupholsteredfurniturematerialassembliesunderconditionsofexposuretosmolderingcigarettes.Thisisaccomplishedbytestingfurnitureassemblies.Thistestmethodisrecommendedforupholsteredfurnitureusedinfacilitiessuchashospitals,nursinghomes,residential-custodialcareandsupervisoryfacilities,orinthepublicareaoffacilitiessuchaseducational,assembly,orresidentialoccupancies.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtomeasuretheperformanceofupholsteredfurniturematerialassembliesunderconditionsofopen-flameexposure,anddoesnotindicatewhethertheassemblieswillresistthepropagationofflameunderseverefireexposureorwhentestedinamannerthatdifferssubstantiallyfromthetestmethod.Theresultsobtainedwithamaterialassemblytestedinmock-upinaccordancewiththistestmethoddonotnecessarilyindicatetheperformanceofthesamematerialassemblyinothergeometricconfigurations,suchasinproductionfurniture.1.1Thisisafire-test-responsestandard.1.2Thistestmethodisdesignedfortheassessmentoftheresistanceofupholsteredfurnituremock-upassembliestocombustionafterexposuretosmolderingcigarettesunderspecifiedconditions.1.3Mock-uptestingisusefulinassessingtherelativeresistanceofcombustionofmaterialsusedinupholsteredfurnituresuchascovermaterials,cushioningmaterials,welts,etc.,inrepresentativecombinationsdisregardingthegeometricarrangementoftheseatingsurfaces,backs,andsidesoffurnitureitems.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.
